Agricultural land values remain stable during the coronavirus pandemic. According to Farmers National Company Senior Vice-President of Real Estate Randy Dickhut, the short-term drops in commodity prices haven’t impacted land values. “The land values transcend shorter-term issues and look longer-term. Land is a long-term investment,” says Dickhut. “Good crop land is relatively steady.” Land values respond differently to outside influences than other markets. “It’s counter-cyclical to a lot of the economy and there wasn’t as much land on the market for sale. That’s definitely slower and it helps support the value. When a good farm comes up for sale, local farmers and investors are still showing interest.”
