Dakota Mill and Grain Grain Marketing Manager Jerry Cope says winter wheat harvest got started in southern South Dakota last week and the quality of the early crop is good. “Local farmers were nervous on the test weight and what the high heat may have done to the crop. So far, the test weight is at 61 pounds and the crop is dry. Farmers are real happy with the start and yields are about 55 bushels an acre, plus.”
