Spring planting will be here soon. As farmers create a planting checklist, Corteva Agriscience Market Development Specialist Bridgette Readel reminds them to share it with others. “If we’re not in charge of the farm this year, do we have all of the information written down for others so they know where to get feed or fertilizer? Make sure your suppliers know who your backup is and make sure your backup knows who your suppliers are,” says Readel. “We want to encourage growers to get plans in place and make sure they are ready to roll into spring whenever Mother Nature is ready.” Not much fieldwork was done last fall. There could be a rush to apply products this spring. If a farmer wants fertilizer, Readel says they should talk to suppliers now and be flexible. “Think about soil types and past yield history and look at what you may need for nitrogen use. When you do that, look at using a nitrogen stabilizer like an N-Serve or an Instinct to prevent nitrogen loss that can happen below ground and protect the bottom line in yield.” Hear the story.
