Market analysts were surprised with USDA’s estimate of increased corn planting. “When you take into account where corn prices dropped from when these numbers were taken, there’s a chance people may rethink acreage,” said Bryan Doherty, senior market advisor, Total Farm Marketing. “At this point, corn can’t seem to get anything, but negative reports.” Other than the corn acreage, Doherty said the report really had no significant changes.
