As of today, the number of coronavirus cases has reached 70,500. A quarantine-style lockdown is in place in China, impacting millions of people. Agriculture Secretary Sonny Perdue says this virus has consequences for U.S. agriculture. “They can’t get to the ports (and) they can’t have workers to unload this so it is a serious issue and it will affect trade for awhile.” Exports associated with the phase one trade agreement between the U.S. and China may be delayed, but Perdue is confident those sales will happen. “We think we’ll see China come into the market this spring as soon as we get this pandemic covered.”
