According to Creighton University Department of Atmospheric Sciences professor emeritus Dr. Art Douglas, the wet weather pattern impacting the north central portion of the U.S. is starting to fade as La Nina develops. Douglas says data from the past seven years shows this pressure pattern means this month could still be colder. “There will be a lot of ups and downs, but the forecast in the Northern Plains is quite cold.” As the trough over eastern Canada starts to move north, the cooler temperatures will ease out the U.S. and eventually start to warm up. “I think it will stay on the cold side in March and through April, but not as cold as February; maybe one or two degrees below average.” Listen to the full RRFN story.
