The success of a canola crop starts with breeding and genetics. BASF is working on two new canola hybrids coming to the market next year. InVigor Canola Brand breeding agronomist says harvest-ability is still a top focus. “Farmers want to harvest the crop without putting it on the ground,” says Naslund. “When we’re selecting different varieties for early to late season, we’re starting to see the plants will still yield.They’ll lay down, dry out and stand back up.” The canola hybrid research is done across a wide region in a variety of environments.
