USDA picked the Kansas City area to relocate the Economic Research Service and National Institute of Food and Agriculture. Agriculture Secretary Sonny Perdue says Kansas City provides a win-win, maximizing mission function and providing an affordable cost of living. The region is also close to multiple land grant universities, providing access to a stable labor force.
