A whole host of issues remain top of mind for the U.S. cattle industry. Recently, the Environmental Protection Agency finalized a rule that exempts livestock producers from reporting air emissions from animal waste. North Dakota Stockmen’s Association Executive Vice President Julie Ellingson says that is just one check mark on the list. “Trade continues to be an interesting issue and something we are watching closely,” says Ellingson. “We are excited about the age restriction change with exports to Japan that came about a couple weeks ago. Hopefully there is more where that came from and we can continue to eliminate tariffs on exports to the Pacific Rim.”
