The Minnesota Farm Bureau Foundation is working to bring resources and information to farm families impacted by the rural opioid crisis. “There is help out there, so seek it out. Have those conversations with people that you love,” says MFB Foundation Director Ruth Meirick. “There is nothing shameful in that. It happens. They want to help you because the last thing they want to do is host a funeral for someone they love dearly.” The American Farm Bureau Federation recently adopted policy for increased rural substance abuse programs and mental health care.
