The nutrition title is still an issue in the farm bill negotiations, but House Agriculture Committee Ranking Member Collin Peterson says that’s not what’s holding up progress. The delays are blamed on differences over the commodity title and the conservation title. Peterson tells RRFN there’s been more progress on the farm bill in the last week than the last month. “We’re not talking about an extension here. We’re still trying to get this done. We should have been at this place one month ago, but you know, we’re there now and people need to take everything in perspective.” The farm bill may not be finalized until after the September 30 deadline. The Minnesota lawmaker said a farm bill delay won’t impact his constituents until December. Listen to the interview.
