The National Farmers Union Fall Legislative Fly-In took place in Washington D.C. September 12-14. Throughout the week, nearly 100 North Dakota Farmers Union members shared their stories on Capitol Hill. NDFU President Mark Watne says the farm bill, trade and and transportation were three key issues. “Farmers are getting hit hard right now. We’re off about 50 percent of our income and expected to be another 15 percent down.” says Watne. “Also, we’re hoping a farm bill will get passed soon. Members would like to see reference prices raised, as well as additional money for some programs.” Hear more of the conversation in this interview.
