House members are back in their home districts this week, limiting the options for work on the new farm bill. With the current farm bill scheduled to expire at the end of the month, Minnesota Farm Bureau Federation board member Miles Kuschel said time is getting tight to finish this bill on time. “They have a couple other big things on their mind right now. One of those is a possible government shutdown.” Regarding trade, Kushel recognizes the need for short-term pain for long-term gain. However, Kuschel says the trade war is taking a financial and emotional toll on farmers and ranchers.
