Environmental Protection Agency Administrator Scott Pruitt has resigned. On Thursday afternoon, President Donald Trump tweeted he “accepted the resignation of Scott Pruitt as the Administrator of the Environmental Protection Agency,” noting that Pruitt has done a “good job within the Agency.” The Senate has already confirmed Deputy Administrator Andrew Wheeler, who will take over as the acting Administrator this week. It is unknown how long Wheeler will serve in the role. The departure follows months of scrutiny about the high cost of Pruitt’s travel, security detail and allegations of “wasteful spending.”
