There was a noticeable change in tone from farmers, and those alike, at the Groundwater Protection Rule meeting in Thief River Falls, Minnesota. Warren, Minnesota farmer Don Leslie attended the Minnesota Department of Agriculture listening session held in Warren last fall. On Wednesday, Leslie commended the MDA for listening to farmers. “Farmers are more interested in clean water than anybody. We spent a lot of money protecting it,” says Leslie. “Now, MDA came back and said ‘Hey farmers, you might know something.’ And because we know something, they’re interested in incentive programs and working with us. That puts both of us on the same side, going the same direction.“
