NDSU Extension is offering suggestions for farmers who are having difficulty sourcing nitrogen fertilizer. Soil Specialist Dave Franzen recommends planting if your delay is going to be more than a day or two. Getting the crop planted in a timely manner outweighs the risks. “There are some risks, but there’s a greater risk of a planting delay. The weather forecast is pretty fickle right now. If it’s just a delay of one day or two, but if it’s longer, which can be a major yield hit.”
