Sugarbeet growers in the American Crystal Sugar Company factory districts are making good planting progress. General agronomist Tyler Grove says about 83 percent of the crop is planted, but soil conditions are variable. “There are dry conditions on the outer parts of the Red River Valley and damper and later in the center of the Red River Valley. If farmers can get the rain to get the crop started, there’s plenty of subsoil moisture in place from the prior year.”
