On Thursday, North Dakota Senator John Hoeven hosted a farm bill roundtable discussion with members of the Fargo-Moorhead/West Fargo Chamber of Commerce Agribusiness Committee and commodity group leadership. Hoeven said progress is being made on the farm bill. “The House has their bill through committee and so they are working to see if they have enough votes to move it to the floor. We hope to be in committee in the next several weeks on the Senate side. Our approach is to take the existing farm bill and put flexibility into programs like ARC/PLC and protect crop insurance.” In addition, Hoeven said access to capital is a must and he plans to introduce an amendment to increase funding for FSA loan guarantees.
