U.S. ethanol is making its first move into the marine shipping market. POET supplied the fuel for the first U.S. bunkering of a ship with 100 percent bioethanol. The trial with shipping company Maersk took place in Houston, Texas. POET says the test shows corn-based ethanol could become another fuel option for the global shipping industry. POET produces more than three billion gallons of ethanol annually at 35 U.S. bioprocessing facilities.
