North Dakota leaders say progress is being made in a long-running dispute over federal wetland easements. Interior Secretary Doug Burgum met with farmers and landowners in Valley City Friday. The Fish and Wildlife Service is expanding a pilot program reviewing older easements, particularly those purchased before 1976. Senator Kevin Cramer says he wants that process to produce results for affected landowners. “I’m very interested in an outcome, not just a plan and a and promises, but so far, Secretary Burgum and the Interior Department, Fish and Wildlife Service have fulfilled what they’ve said they would do in terms of the the of the remapping and and the pilot program.” Senator John Hoven says drainage setbacks are another issue that needs to be addressed
