Senate Majority Leader John Thune says a one-year delay in new SNAP cost-sharing rules could help move the farm bill forward. During Farmfest, Thune said Democrats opposed the bill despite the compromise. “We thought that was a fair landing spot, but going farther than that is a non-starter.” The House has already passed its version of the farm bill. The Senate Agriculture Committee is scheduled to take another whack at passing the legislation when the current recess ends.
