Farm state lawmakers crowded the stage in the White House South Court Auditorium Thursday, waiting for the arrival of President Donald Trump. Suddenly, the theme of the 1970s television show Green Acres was heard on the speakers. Minutes before, Trump had tweeted out video from the 2005 Emmy broadcast, where he was wearing bib overalls, holding a pitchfork and singing the Green Acres theme. Before signing the farm bill, Trump emphasized the bipartisan approach to the legislation. “Some of our great political geniuses we have with us today. This was not an easy one. We have to take care of our farmers and ranchers, and we will take care of them,” said Trump. “Not only is it a bill, but it’s a great bill for them. We’re honored by it.”
