For the seventh time in 2025, the Rural Mainstreet Index was in negative territory. Creighton University’s Ernie Goss said nearly 75 percent of the bank CEOs said the current weak commodity prices represent the greatest threat to banking operations over the next 12 months. The monthly survey of bank CEOs in rural areas of a ten-state area found farmland prices fell below growth neutral for the 16th time in 17 months. Farm equipment sales were in negative territory for the 25th consecutive month.
