The struggles seen on the farm are getting attention at the highest level. “Over the last three weeks, I’ve been to the White House twice to try to answer questions about what’s happening in the farm economy,” said John Newton, executive head, Terrain. “They are very concerned about the lack of soybean purchases by the Chinese; they’re concerned about how long the Chinese can wait us out; they’re concerned about the One Big Beautiful Bill and when that money will hit farm country.” During Wednesday’s forum at the Big Iron Farm and Construction Show, Newton said his briefings have been with the National Economic Council and the Council of Economic Advisors. “They’re asking Farm Credit to come into the room and talk about what we’re seeing and hearing from farm customers; it’s an incredible honor.” Terrain provides economic analysis for AgCountry Farm Credit Services, Farm Credit Services of America, American AgCredit and Frontier Farm Credit.
