Crop conditions in west-central Minnesota range from excellent to struggling, according to Syngenta Agronomy Service Representative Jason Schnell. Some areas have gotten more rain, some have gotten less and some of that is within each field.” Severe weather has been seen in parts of the region. “Over the last ten days, we’ve had a lot of rain, hail, and some wind, which took some pretty decent crops and made them look pretty rough.” Wheat harvest is underway in parts of the Red River Valley, especially on sugarbeet ground, where yields are looking good. While corn progress is slightly behind average, Schnell said heat unit accumulation is not as far off as it may feel. “We’re down maybe three to five percent in the worst areas, which is not ideal, but it is manageable. With good weather going forward, we can make that up.”
