CHS Ag Services Sales Agronomist Brian Oachs reports promising prospects for the crops in northwest Minnesota. “The soybeans, they’re looking pretty good. We’ve been kind of wishing for the rain to stay away for the wheat crop, obviously, now that everything’s mature, but the soybeans, they’ve been loving these little shots of rain. The soybean crop’s got some nice color to it, really looked good, two or three bean pods.” The wheat harvest is just beginning in the region. “Protein’s been real good, guys have been happy with that. They’re taking it a little wetter; they don’t want to chance any quality issues.” Oachs said most harvest activity so far has been near Thief River Falls, with more areas expected to roll as conditions improve.
