During the USDA’s farm security announcement, Attorney General Pam Bondi said the Justice Department is actively monitoring foreign threats to American agriculture. “Last month in Michigan, this is very frightening, we charged two Chinese nationals for attempting to smuggle potential agroterrorism weapons into the United States; both of them have ties to the CCP (Chinese Communist Party),” said Bondi. “Just days later, we arrested another Chinese citizen for sending packages of concealed biological materials into the United States.” Bondi emphasized this needs to stop. “We will prosecute you, we will hold you accountable.” USDA is also implementing a new process to make sure all USDA-funded research is not being conducted by participants who are owned or controlled by foreign adversaries.
