Sign-up for USDA’s Market Facilitation Program begins Tuesday, September 4. There are a few sign-up options for farmers via the Farm Service Agency. North Dakota FSA Executive Director Brad Thykeson says farmers need to have their 2018 production records for the application. “Everyone will be subject to spot checks. County committee members will be instrumental in determining whether the yield is reasonable with the weather effects seen in 2018,” says Thykeson. Sign-up is open until January 15. “I would strongly encourage appointments with county FSA offices. That would be your best avenue, rather than burning up time just to get information.” What can farmers expect at sign-up? Listen to the story.
