Keeping fall weeds in check is a good start to next year’s weed control plan. Dakota Agronomy Partners-Newberg, North Dakota location manager Shane Lester says be mindful of late season weed once the crop is harvested. “When we start thinking about next year’s crop, besides fertilizer one of the first things we need to do is start thinking about weed control and whether we’re dealing with some perennial weed problems. One of the annuals that seems to be creeping in is the downy brome grass (cheatgrass). We’re starting to see that a little bit more. Fall is the best time to take care of them and get a jump start in next year’s weed control.”
