Columbia Grain President and CEO Jeff Van Pevenage says it’s been difficult to get the transportation needed move the items in smaller units or containers. Van Pevenage is prepared for this to continue another six to nine months. “End users need to be aware of their inventories and acknowledge it will take longer to get the product. Farmers should be ordering and buying sooner than they would normally and learning how to operate on smaller inventories at their facilities. I would also assume famers have experienced the same with their parts for farm equipment. Farmers should be ordering seed needs sooner to guarantee they’ll get seed.”
