New value-added opportunities are popping up in Northern Plains. That’s due, in part, to the increased demand for renewable diesel. In May, ADM announced it would build a $350 million soybean crush facility in Spiritwood, North Dakota. The plant is expected to be completed in 2023. The vegetable oil produced at the facility will be sold to Marathon in Dickinson to make renewable diesel. Last week, the Minnesota Soybean Processors said they would partner with CGB Enterprises to build the new soy crush plant near Casselton, North Dakota. This newly proposed processing plant, within an hour from ADM’s new facility, is expected to be completed in 2024. Work continues on the Epitome Energy soy crush plant in Crookston, Minnesota.
