Very little corn has been harvested in the Minot area, but the majority of soybeans are done. Dekalb Asgrow Technical Agronomist Courtney Meduna says yields vary widely depending on the moisture situation. “Most of our soybeans are off, but it was a grind this year trying to get things off with the green stems that were toughter to cut, but the beans were dry,” said Meduna. “Drought does weird things to these plants and we really saw the impact.” Canola suffered from the triple-digit temps that happened during flowering. However, Meduna says there is a lot of interest in canola next because of strong market and the crop rotation benefits.
