J&L Nutrition agronomist Andrew Gorentz says most of the first cutting of hay has been put up near Perham. “There are still few stragglers, but there are some aggressive farmers who are probably getting into, maybe not second crop yet, but it’s pretty soon here. I mean it’s going up pretty nicely.” Hay quality is variable. “For the first crop, there are fields that look nice, but there are some fields are very uneven. There are also some weevils.”
