As the Biden administration considers cabinet candidates, National Corn Growers Association CEO Jon Doggett says the corn industry has already had a number of discussions with the transition team. “The most important thing we can do right now is build relationships with a new administration, but we can’t have meaningful conversations with people we’ve never met. We need to approach these discussions by asking how we attain the needs of members and resolve issues the administration is trying to fix.” Doggett says there are a number of areas with a perfect confluence. “When people ask how Joe Biden will be for corn, a lot of that will depend on how we build rapport and trust. One of the biggest issues the new administration will be facing is climate change. Who has a better story to tell about climate change than the corn industry?”
