Minnesota Governor Tim Walz acknowledges this is a difficult time for everybody, but particularly for agriculture. Reflecting on the recent special session, Walz voiced frustration on one key issue. “I’m super-disappointed we didn’t get a tax bill” which would have included conformity with Section 179 expensing. The meatpacking industry was one of the first pressure points seen with the coronavirus pandemic. In a call with non-metro reporters, Walz said the fallout was dramatic with the number of hogs that were euthanized. “This is a tough one.”
