Minnesota Senator Tina Smith says there’s urgency to get a farm bill completed on time. “The bill’s failure in the House is a real disappointment for Minnesota farmers who have a lot of issues they’re struggling with. Having the certainty of getting this bill done would be incredibly helpful,” she says. “I was encouraged when Senator Roberts and Senator Stabenow put out a joint statement committing themselves to passing and putting together a bipartisan bill right after the House bill failed. And I think what they are doing is looking at the issue and especially the important nutrition programs, where things kind of fell apart.”
