Farm Credit Services across the country are struggling to access the Small Business Administration portal to administer Paycheck Protection Program loans. According to AgCountry Farm Credit Services Senior Vice President of Government and Public Affairs Howard Olson, AgCountry is not taking applications from farmers until they know applications can be forwarded to the SBA. Olson said customers should be talking with their local banks in the meantime. “At this point, as much as we’d like farmers to be able to work with us on it, we feel the most important thing is for farmers to get an application in. There’s a limit to the amount of money and it seems to be in high demand. We are concerned funding may run out on this before farmers get an application submitted.” Olson said AgCountry is working with lawmakers to resolve these challenges. Hear the interview.
