The Environmental Protection Agency is trying to work with cattle producers. That comes from EPA administrator Andrew Wheeler at the 2020 Cattle Industry Convention. One way is by repealing and replacing the 2015 Waters of the U.S. rule. “The 2015 rule was all about taking control over private property through the guides of water.” With the new rule, there are three guiding principles. “A property owner should be able to tell for themselves whether water is federal or not. Second, it differentiates between state and federal water,” says Wheeler. “Third, the regulation must be legally sound that will be upheld by the courts.” Listen to Wheeler’s remarks here.
