There are just 21 legislative days before Congress is scheduled to wrap up for the year. That is a tight timeline for Congress to pass the U.S.-Canada-Mexico Agreement. “An election year is really tough to get a lot of legislation passed,” said National Cattlemen’s Beef Association CEO Colin Woodall. “We believe that if we’re not successful in getting things done before the end of the year, our chance of getting them done before the election are pretty slim.” Congressional leaders are expected to meet with U.S. Trade Representative Robert Lighthizer this week. The Democrats are seeking changes in the provisions about labor, the environment and enforcement.
