With warmer days, it’s time for combines to roll. Clark Coleman farms north of Bismarck. He says the sunflowers, corn and soybeans are still standing alright following the October blizzard. “We’re fixing up corn choppers from 25 years ago to get the corn out of the ground. There’s so much to do. It’s not all going to get done.” Coleman says the combines have to roll when they can. “We’ll harvest sunflowers first until we can get to the navy beans. Then, we’ll harvest soybeans followed by more sunflowers. If we can get our sunflowers, navy beans and soybeans harvested, along with the corn chopped, we can focus back on the cattle. If we have to combine corn in the spring, we will, but that wouldn’t be the choice.”
