Another White House meeting on the Renewable Fuel Standard is on the calendar. On Tuesday, lawmakers will meet again with President Trump. National Farmers Union Biofuels Advisor Anne Steckel says this is the fourth and likely final meeting. “The way to lower RIN prices is really to have year-round sales of E15 and we’re hopeful that’s what President Trump will do.” Steckel says if year-round sales of E15 is granted, the Environmental Protection Agency would likely move forward with rule-making. This is something the renewable fuels industry want to happen sooner rather than later. Steckel says the industry still doesn’t have clarification on EPA’s hardship waivers. “We don’t have the clarity we want. We are certainly hoping for a message from the president these exemptions need to stop. We’ve been working with folks to ensure this is something the White House knows is a huge priority for the ethanol industry.”
