Minnesota State Cattlemen’s Association Executive Director Ashley Kohls spent time in China and Japan this past week. While on the trip, Kohls spoke with the Red River Farm Network, saying the relationship between the U.S. and China is sensitive. “We had a meeting with U.S. officials at the embassy. There were many questions on what appears to be a budding trade war with China and they were quick to shut down that terminology. It’s not necessarily a trade war, it’s really the countries feeling each other out to see who has the most political risk. China has more products coming into the U.S. than the U.S. has going into China. China has a risk of losing that market access into the U.S.” The Trump Administration must answer to the U.S. people. Kohls says the Chinese government doesn’t necessarily have that same situation.
