According to Minnesota Farm Bureau President Kevin Paap, Governor Tim Walz’s order supporting pollinators is a step in the right direction. “For agriculture specifically, we want to make sure there is increased education and promotion of best management practices,” says Paap. “We also need to support the Environmental Protection Agency’s science-based risk assessment process.” According to Paap, initial educational efforts will be focused around seed stewardship. “If there are seed spills, we need to make sure they are covered up. Also, we’ll be working with the Governor’s office and Department of Ag to make sure there is responsible use of pesticides.”
