U.S. and Chinese trade talks are expected to continue this week in Washington, D.C. Over the weekend, President Donald Trump met with U.S. Trade Representative Robert Lighthizer, Commerce Secretary Wilbur Ross, White House Chief of Staff Mick Mulvaney and White House trade advisor Peter Navarro at his estate in Florida. Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin and economic advisor Larry Kudlow joined the conversation by phone. Trump tweeted the negotiations last week in Beijing were “very productive.” Chinese President Xi Jinping also voiced optimism, telling the Chinese news agency that “important progress” has been made.
