Harvest is moving ahead near New Rockford, North Dakota, with yields generally exceeding expectations. “Weather’s just been phenomenal,” Donny Allmaras said. “It’s been wonderful for the corn, drying it down a little bit more. The guys trying to finish up soybeans, it’s been great for that.” The area endured an extended period of hot, dry weather during the growing season, but Allmaras said many fields have been a pleasant surprise. He credits improved genetics, moisture conservation and fertility practices for helping crops withstand the stress.
