A bread-making experiment has taken Crookston FFA member Ella Capistran to the National FFA Convention. Capistran is a national agriscience fair finalist in the food products and processing systems category, Division 1. Her research examined whether the amperage draw of an electric mixer can be used to determine when bread dough has been kneaded long enough. “The goal of the project was to make it easier for people that haven’t made bread before to kind of know when it’s done without having the experience of making bread before,” Capistran said. Capistran originally developed the project for a Minnesota science fair before entering it in FFA competition.
