USDA announces a record $13.8 billion in farm safety net payments for the 2025 crop year. Ag Secretary Brooke Rollins said the ARC and PLC coverage payments are the largest since the programs began in 2014. Corn, soybeans, wheat, canola, and several other crops triggered PLC payments. Under the new farm legislation, producers will automatically receive the higher payment rate from either ARC or PLC for the 2025 crop year. The payment limit also increases to $160,000, although payments remain subject to federal reductions. USDA says the payments will be issued as calculations are completed.
