American Crystal Sugar Company is in its 100th year of sugarbeet processing at its East Grand Forks facility. The 1926 harvest featured 10,000 acres with an average yield of 7.6 tons per acre. In that first year, the company was known as the American Beet Sugar Company. The name was changed to American Crystal Sugar Company eight years later. American Crystal is now the largest beet sugar producer in the United States.
