Minnesota Governor Tim Walz hosted a trade mission to Denmark, Sweden and Iceland. Minnesota Farm Bureau President Dan Glessing was part of the trade trip. “In Denmark, they only grow about 50 percent of what they need, what a remarkable opportunity. Sweden is is a little better as far as production is concerned, but not not anywhere near self sufficient either.” The European Union does not recognize the U.S. standards for biotech crops, which impacts the food imports. However, feed ingredients, such as soybean meal would be a good fit. The Minnesota agricultural delegation included Deputy Agriculture Commissioner Andrea Vaubel, Minnesota Farmers Union President Gary Wertish, Minnesota Soybean Executive Director Joe Smentek, and Minnesota Soybean Growers Association President Ryan Mackethun.
