Farmers are getting back into soybean fields near Edgeley, North Dakota, after heavy rainfall slowed harvest. Mike Brandenburg said the wet conditions forced farmers to begin on hilltops and higher ground. “The good ground hung in there and, you know, are getting pretty average yields. I wouldn’t say it’s no barn burner,” Brandenburg said. “The lighter ground is gonna be less.” Dry growing-season conditions are showing up in the yield monitor. Brandenburg said one soybean field on good ground averaged 37 bushels per acre when he had hoped for closer to 45.
